Bush Hogging & Brush Clearing
Overgrown acreage put back under control.
When a field, pasture or vacant lot gets past what a mower can handle, it needs a brush cutter. Greenscapes VA clears overgrown acreage across Roanoke and Botetourt County — fields gone to seed, fence lines swallowed by brush, and lots taken over by saplings.
What We Clear
- Fields and pastures that have gone a season or more without cutting
- Fence lines and property boundaries lost to brush
- Vacant lots overtaken by saplings and briars
- Right-of-way and easement clearing
- Ground being prepared for seeding, fencing or construction
- Seasonal maintenance on large acreage
The Equipment
We run a commercial Ventrac with a brush cutter attachment. It handles heavy vegetation and, more importantly for this area, it handles slope — a tractor-mounted cutter is limited on the grades common around Botetourt County, and a lot of the ground that needs clearing here is not flat.
One-Time or Seasonal
Some properties need a single reclaim after being let go for a few years. Others need cutting once or twice a season to stay ahead of it, which is cheaper per visit and far easier on the equipment than letting it return to saplings and starting over.
If the ground has gone several years, expect the first cut to be slower and to look rough — that is normal. The second cut is where it starts looking maintained.
Before We Quote
Acreage alone does not price a job. What matters is what is growing on it, how steep it is, and what is hidden in it. Stumps, old wire, rock and dumped debris are what damage a cutter, so we walk the property first and ask what you know is out there. An honest answer about the junk in the back corner saves everyone money.

Common Questions About Bush Hogging & Brush Clearing
How much land can you handle?
Everything from a quarter-acre overgrown lot up to multi-acre fields and pastures. Acreage matters less than what is growing on it and how steep it is.
Can you cut on a slope?
Yes. We use a Ventrac with a brush cutter rather than a tractor-mounted unit specifically because so much of the ground that needs clearing around Botetourt County is on a grade.
How often does a field need cutting?
Once or twice a season keeps it maintained and is cheaper per visit than letting it go. A field left for several years needs a reclaim cut first, which is slower and looks rough until the second pass.
What do you need to know before quoting?
What is hidden in it. Stumps, old fence wire, rock and dumped debris are what damage a brush cutter, and a surprise costs more than a warning. Tell us what you know is out there and the quote will be accurate.
